Congratulations and celebrations my little Kiwi Friend.
It gladens my heart to see and hear that little 2-8-0 chuffing up the track which has been so expertly and lovingly laid by the
best tracklayers in N.Z.
A beautiful job.

back again
Now time to lay some rail
Here's my 2-8-0 sitting on the track
I now have 3ft of rail down and it works
I hooked up a DC power pack and run the 2-8-0 up and down the rail and it ran smooth and looks sweet
This is not a good shot but if you look real hard you can see i little glow of light coming from the loco as it run towards the camera
Now I feel like i'm getting somewhere now but as with this project progress is sometimes slow and painful LOL
more soon
Cheers Warren

Ok guys time for an update
As i said earlier i had to rip up the cork and redo which i did
Then we laid some more ties
Then we started laying some rail when it hit the fan so to speak
The problem was i couldn't push the spikes into the subroadbed which was MDF board
So we decided to use something else for sub road I decided on using pinex so I ripped it up again
I laid some pinex out glued and screw it down
put some more cork down
On went some more ties
i'll break this up a bit
cheers Warren

We have run into a slight problem that requires me to rip up all but one bit of cork and redo the lot.
What happened was misunderstanding with plan. It was drawen in HO not N spacing between mainlines is 50mm which is way to much for N which is supposed to be 30mm.
I'm frustrated at yet another delay but glad to find it now not after laying 100ft of track.
So one step forward two backwards LOL.

Why use a straight edge that track looks a lot like some short line rail , the wave is the cats meow

Well folks we had a great time over the last couple of days.
I got some rail LAID.
A whole 2 ft LOL
Here are some pics
I hope to get power on in next day or so which means we on target for running a train by the new year
I did this freehand as most will be ripped up as later on I want to put in a double crossover in this spot.
But in future laying I will use straight edge.
I'm feeling really happy now as I feel the first major achivement has been done.
