Well here comes some more!!
I decided to make the little connecting piece of the benchwork the east side of Tunnel City. From old pictures I found I seen they had an old brick building and a Quanset hut also the only road in town crossing the tracks. I couldn't find out what either building was in thier time so I just made the brick building from my scrap box and made the quanset hut into a tractor repair shop using a Rix kit.
here is the front of the hut
and the rear

After the brown paint dried I went back and put a base coat of green down where I new the grassy areas would be. I also painted the hills on the backdrop
here is a closer picture of the trees I painted on the backdrop.

Thanks Simon,
The next step was to paint the rock areas a rusty brown color and the rest a dark brown base coat.

Excellent progress Andy! Tunnel City has really taken shape and I'm sure Tomah's progress is following right in there also! The backdrop is a very smooth touch and will really pull your farm scene together. Very nice modeling! Keep it up!!

Warren,
I don't want you to think I am going this fast. These pictures were taken starting in Feb. I am just trying to bring everyone up to where I am now. Here is one of the foam hills roughed in.

Next is a shot of the benchwork on the wall, foamboard glued down, masonite glued on the wall for my backdrop and the little bridge to connect the two sections of the layout.

OK, The next stop east on the line is Tomah, Wisconsin. But before we get there I have a 5' by 2' section of layout containing a cabin scene and a large dairy farm. This section also has to hide the electrical panel for the house. I started this section in December of 2006 and I am just about finished with it, so this post will be almost currant. Here are two pics, one of the view block wall by the elec. box. The other is the open grid bench work being built.
Feel free to ask any questions as I go!!
