Turnout Tie Jig
« Reply #1 on: September 26, 2006, 06:16:54 AM »
Well I'm not sure if is the right place for this so here goes anyway  LOL.

Over the weekend I made a turnout tie jig to speed things up abit.
First I glued a left and right template to some wood then glued some wood in spaces betweenthe ties.

This allows me to cut to length all the ties in correct space and length. Then with some masking tape I can pick up all at once.

After that I can place on the roadbed when it's time to glue them down.

These were placed for photos but not glued.
last pic is a turnout sitting in place.

I plan to give the ties a quick sand reglue any that didn't stick and stain before final spiking in place of turnout. When gluing down ties i can move them to get a nice look to it as in uneven ends also spacing.

BTW Jim  29,892  to go might be closer  LOL.

Cheers womblenz
